GB Review: Infinite Undiscovery (360)Posted 8:48pm Thu Sep 25, 2008 by Solomon Lee Tags: review, infinite undiscovery, square enix, triace, xbox 360, RPG

Infinite Undiscovery is an action RPG from tri-Ace, the folks behind Valkryie Profile and the Star Ocean series. The game employs an interactive real-time combat system. Teamwork is a vital part of the game as the game has its fair share of puzzles that can only be solved with the aid of a party member. While the visuals and sound design are decent, the game fails to achieve its potential. It's overcomplicated and unresponsive, and altogether feels like an incomplete package. Fans of tri-Ace and RPGs in general might get a kick out of the 30-or-so hour game, but it's nothing for casual gamers to get excited about.

score: 3 out of 5

Infinite Undiscovery is the latest title developed by tri-Ace, the development powerhouse behind the Valkryie Profile and the Star Ocean series. At its core, it's an action RPG that blends situational battles with open exploration. These battles are influenced by conditions and choices made by players resulting in, as the name implies, new discoveries that affect the world around you. The first of three highly anticipated Square Enix RPGs (The Last Remnant, Star Ocean: The Last Hope), Infinite Undiscovery marks tri-Ace's return to the RPG limelight.

Nintendo Denies Mario Kart Disc Error AllegationsPosted 7:04pm Tue Apr 15, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: nintendo, mario kart, wii, disc read error
Rumors stating that Mario Kart Wii suffers from the same disc-reading errors as Super Smash Bros. Brawl have been denied by Nintendo, who told Eurogamer that they haven't heard anything about the problem.

Nintendo also told Eurogamer that the same rumors' claims that Mario Kart Wii is on a dual-layered disc are also false, as the game is on a single-layered disc.

Like Brawl, Mario Kart Wii is Experiencing Disc Read Errors Posted 9:21pm Sun Apr 13, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: mario kart wii, disc drive error, nintendo, wii

If you're amongst the rabble of gamers that came home with a copy a Super Smash Bros. Brawl in tow only to have it not work or freeze while playing, then you might want to get ready to riot. GoNintendo is reporting that Japanese gamers are having the same problem with Mario Kart Wii.

The issue once again stems from the Wii's inability to read dual-layered discs if the disc drive lens is dirty.

If you discover that your Wii is in need of cleaning, you can send it in to Nintendo through a repair form that is available for North American residents via Nintendo's official website.

Update: Nintendo has responded to these rumors, stating that Mario Kart Wii is on a single-layered disc and that they are unaware of any problems regarding disc-reading errors.

Time Crisis 4 Price Drop At AmazonPosted 9:55pm Mon Dec 17, 2007 by Tim Grube Tags: , PlayStation 3, Time Crisis 4, sales, discount, amazon

I think Amazon is on a roll here this holiday season by price dropping a bunch of their items. Could I say, "hot" items. Last week, the online company dropped Call of Duty 4 to $40 while the MSRP was still standing at $59.99. Now, this week Time Crisis 4 with the Guncon 3 Controller has been dropped to a whopping $49.99 which also has free shipping for the PlayStation 3. The title released on November 20 and carried an MSRP of $89.99.

The numbers haven't been released yet out of Namco whether or not Time Crisis 4 is selling, but I would totally pick this up being so low. Last minute holiday shoppers? I do believe you are one of them!

Merry... Holiday, Call Of Duty 4 Only $40 at AmazonPosted 12:51pm Fri Dec 14, 2007 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: Call of Duty 4, sales, discount, amazon

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the year's best games (earning a total of 10 stars on our 5-star scale). Amazon has the game on sale for $40 versus the usual $60 price tag. This applies to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. I don't know why I should need to say anything else.

If you haven't picked the game up yet, perhaps this sale should be motivation. Hey, there's still time for shipping before Christma...Holiday!

'Rise of the Video Game' Discovery Channel Documentary Begins TonightPosted 2:38pm Wed Nov 21, 2007 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: video game history, tv, rise of the video game, discovery channel

The history of video games and the industry thereof is very interesting and conveniently very short. It's sad, though, how few people are familiar with it. People know about the Atari and Pong and all that, but after that exists some kind of inky mystery period until the NES came around and "generations" became so easy to measure.

Those people should be pleased to know that the Discovery Channel is beginning a five-part look at the video game legacy starting tonight at 8pm called Rise of the Video Game.

Sometimes "mainstream" coverage of video game history can be pretty shaky (anyone who went to the "Game On" video game exhibit at the science museum in Chicago might understand), but from the episode guide it looks like the series will be going into great detail. Set your TiVo/Generic DVRs!
