Hummer Says HX Concept Not Halo-Influenced, Sky Not BluePosted 1:11pm Mon Jan 14, 2008 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: Halo, Hummer HX, cars, Warthog

Since early photos of the new HX concept from Hummer have surfaced, nearly anybody who's spent some time playing any Halo game can't help but notice the slight similarities between it and the game series' Warthog vehicle. At the North American International Auto Show currently going on in Detroit, mlive asked the question on all our minds: Is the Hummer HX inspired by Halo?

No, says Carl Zipfel, director of exterior design for the HX concept. If anything, it's inspired by ATV/4-wheeler vehicles and all that.

He does confirm that he has himself played the games, and also that there are no plans to attach a turret to the back.

I think if the concept car were blue or pink or red or orange, nobody would have even made the connection. The problem is that I would identify that color as "Halo green," so the mind cannot be blamed for making unilateral connections like that.

Look at those tires, man.

THQ Forms Incinerator Games StudioPosted 11:05pm Wed Jul 19, 2006 by The Gaming Horizon Archive Tags: Cars, archive
THQ, most commonly known for the successful line of licensed WWE games, has announced the creation of a new development team called Incinerator Games, designed to work on next-generation consoles.

The goal of Incinerator Games, according to Executive Vice President of Worldwide Studios Jack Sorensen, is to increase THQ's internal capabilities in regards to the new formats that will be rising to prominence.

The newly created team's first project will be a next-generation version of Disney/Pixar's license "Cars," for Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. A multi-platform version of Cars has already been released for current-generation systems by THQ.

THQ has also said that Incinerator, whose experience in the past includes work on such titles as NFL Gameday, Twisted Metal, and MLB 2006: The Show, is also working on other future projects for next-generation systems.

Here's hoping the newest kids on the block can stay in the frying pan of quality games and out of the fires of the bargain bin.
