Metal Gear Solid 4 Receives Perfect Score From FamitsuPosted 1:08pm Wed Jun 04, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: Metal Gear Solid 4, Playstation 3, Famitsu, Sony
It's not often that Japanese gaming mag Famitsu awards a game a perfect score of 40/40, but Kotaku has discovered via a Japanese blog that Metal Gear Solid 4 has become only the eighth game to ever earn this distinction. Gamers who have been worried about whether or not the game stands up to its predecessors will no doubt be pleased to hear this news.

Interestingly enough, 2008 marks the first time that Famitsu has ever awarded two perfect scores in the same year, the other time this year being for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Famitsu Scores Super Smash Bros. Brawl a Perfect 40Posted 3:02pm Wed Jan 16, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo, Nintendo Wii, Famitsu, scores

If you're one of those "Famitsu is god" gamers who keeps a close eye on what the most popular Japanese gaming magazine is playing (and scoring), then here's a tidbit for you.

Apparently Famitsu reviewers really, really like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as they scored it a perfect 10 across the board - that's 40/40 points. In other words, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has just become the beacon of perfection for all Wii and non-Wii games alike, topping even the likes of Super Mario Galaxy at a cozy 38/40.

I bet that'll sell some Wiis, delay or no.

Here are comments from the four Famitsu reviewers as translated by 1up (I assume):

"This time around even the 1P mode is massive. Adventure Mode will entertain you for quite a long time, and the story's presentation is excellent. In versus mode, the Final Smashes add more uncertainty to battles; you can have a wilder match than ever regardless of skill. Hats off to the ample control and sound options as well."

"Final Smashes-one of the new elements to the game-dazzle, exhilarate, and heat up the battles more than ever. The content-rich 1P mode is aces, too. Movies and action in 'Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary' move at a good clip; I completely lost track of the time. Loved it!"

"Compelling presentation and gimmicks, plus dynamic and subtle character motions. You have GOT to see these over-the-top Final Smashes. Lots of versus stages, and the 1P mode is very fulfilling. A stage editor and the ability to browse detailed game data are also pluses."

"The all-stars in this roundup bound across the screen with polish. The game comes complete with a mode that will suck you in even if you're by yourself, and more than enough hooks to stir up the collector within you. This is a supreme game that oozes superior technology, sensibility, and effort. Each play yields new discoveries, and each versus battle offers welcome doses of joy and dismay."

Namco Bandai Developing New RPG for WiiPosted 1:20pm Fri Nov 16, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: Namco Bandai, Fragile, RPG, Famitsu, Wii
In some interesting Namco Bandai news of the day, the company has announced the development of Fragile, an "exploration" RPG for the Wii.

There are no pretty pictures or teaser trailers yet, but Namco Bandai has confirmed that it will make an official game announcement via the next issue of Famitsu (aka Japan's most famous gaming magazine), which ships on November 22 (if you live in Japan).

There will also be a game event on November 24 to shed additional light on the title, followed by the launch of the game's official site.
