Warhammer Online Exceeds 800,000 Subscribers

Mythic's MMO, Warhammer Online, published by Electronic Arts unveiled that the game has exceeded 800,000 subscribers, according to recently released Electronic Arts financial documents. Within the document it states, 1.2 million copies of WAR has been sold since its release in September.

EA Announces More Burnout

Criterion Games and Electronic Arts announced today Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box. This "box" will include the Burnout Paradise game plus the previously-released Burnou Paradise Cagney and Burnout Paradise Bikes content updates, and the brand new Burnout Paradise Party content.

Whether youre an experienced player or a gaming novice, Burnout Paradise is a game that anyone can enjoy, says Pete Lake, Senior Producer at Criterion Games. With The Ultimate Box, we aimed to deliver the most fun, high quality and high value experience possible to players both online and in the living room.

Burnout Paradise Party will be on display and available for free play at EAs booth during the London Games Festival in Trafalgar Square from Oct 31 Nov 1, 2008.

Now for the players that already own Burnout Paradise, Burnout Paradise Party will be sold separately as downloadable content.

Mirror's Edge Release Confirmed For November

Electronic Arts has announced that Mirror's Edge is coming to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on November 11. A special code unlocking the "Time Trial" mode in the demo will be given to those that pre-order the game after September 26. As reported, this pre-order bonus is available only at "selected retailers."

The PC version has been delayed to "later in the winter."

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) Ships To Stores

Mythic Entertainment and Electronic Arts today announced that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), will ship tomorrow to retail stores across North America, Europe, and Oceania in preparation for launch on September 18th.

This is truly a historic day for both EA and Mythic as we prepare to send more copies of WAR to retailers than any other newly launched MMORPG in North America and Europe. Over the course of our beta, over a million gamers throughout the world sent a clear signal to us - they want WAR, and we are more than happy to oblige them, said Mark Jacobs, co-founder and general manager of Mythic Entertainment. In three days the real battle begins we have declared September 18th the Day of Reckoning, and WAR will soon be upon us!

WAR set a company record for the most retail pre-orders placed by consumers for a PC title in EAs 26 year history. Overall, the company has sold 1.5 million units of WAR to retailers.

Evil Avatar has received word of what EA is planning to show off at their E3 press conference on Monday, and the list of what to expect is quite monstrous.

From John Riccitiello, CEO of EA:

Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox Ships

Boom Box is finally here! Electronic Arts today announced that Boom Blox, the Wii title by Steven Spielberg, has been shipped to North American retailers.

"BOOM BLOX was designed to be interactive, pure escapism, and fun for kids of all ages," said Steven Spielberg. "My hope is that it will be a great shared family experience."

Developed at EA Los Angeles under the EA Casual Entertainment Label, BOOM BLOX is rated 'E' for Everyone by the ESRB, 3+ by PEGI, and 6+ by the USK, and has a US MSRP of $49.99.

EA Offers a Good Apology

Were you one of the many people who got a defective guitar with your Rock Band bundle? If that was the case, it really does suck to be you, but on the bright side, Electronic Arts is trying to do the right thing by promising customers a free game. When the news was first heard, everyone imagined this "free game" to be one of the less successful games made by the company, but little did we know!

EA released the news of what is to be offered as the "free game" and guess what? It isn't a bunch of crap titles! Unsatisfied customers can now choose from most of EA's 2007 catalogue of games. Amongst the list are games such as Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Skate, and Fifa Soccer 08.

EA's CEO Changes Company's Revenue Model, Questions Industry

Electronic Arts' CEO John Riccitello revealed today a shifting of his company's focus away from licensed titles and more to original brands. This helps explain EA's recent acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic Studios, which to Riccitello was worth the $860 million price tag to acquire them.

Speaking with CNN Money, Riccitello outlined in some detail EA's future plans and philosophy, of which - no surprise here - Madden is still a huge part. More importantly, he questions the game industry's ability to sustain the $60 price tag for games and admits change must be made soon.
