This video, that's what.

The video features no actual gameplay, and basically confirms the following facts: Duke Nukem will be in it, so will aliens.

Personally, I don't see the point of being excited for a game from a company whose last product was made over a decade ago and after 10 years of working on one game has nothing to show for it but a rendered video that could be done by a college 3D graphics class in an afternoon.
Nintendo Denies Charge of 'PR-ing' Wii Stock Shortages

For those of us in North America who have been trying (and failing) to locate a Wii at the base price (No, I do not want all those fluffy, stupid games in those overpriced 'value' bundles), we can take solace in the fact that we're not the only ones having difficulty in our Wii quest.

The subject has been receiving some attention in the UK as well, with Max Console.net accusing Big-N of of issuing press releases regarding the Wii's high demand and stock shortages to encourage sales.

Max Console.net reported on two articles discussing the issue from two separate UK newspapers. You can view an image of these articles here; their content should sound familiar.

For its part, Nintendo has responded to the story with the following statement:

We strongly reject and resent the accusation that we are "PR-ing" stock shortages and no press releases are being distributed. We are doing all we can to ensure that the unprecedented demand for Wii can be met as far as possible in the run up to Christmas. This is being done through regular and multiple deliveries of Wii stock to the UK, globally we are working at maximum capacity, producing 1.8 million units of Wii hardware a month to try and meet this demand as far as possible.

In another Time Crisis 4 update for today the game's director, Takashi Satsukawa, has posted over at the official PlayStation Blog regarding the title's development, specifically the creation of the new guncon and the logic behind the move. Time Crisis 4 and the new guncon will enable players to maneuver independently of the camera as well as shoot, varying the arcade style a bit.

Here's an excerpt:

The Time Crisis team has been eager to implement a solution for moving and shooting to the series for years now – our development tools allow us to do this in early builds of games – but it was too difficult to implement this feature into a full game using only the Guncon 2 controller. With our next title planned for the PLAYSTATION 3 system, we began work on our next iteration of the Guncon hardware to bring new functionality to the series and allow us to implement our goals for a free-roaming Time Crisis experience. We asked our designer to come up with a few illustrations showing a Guncon with one analog stick. After getting the results, we realized that this was going to be a more intimidating project than we had planned!

Hit the link for the full article.
Duke Nukem Forever Rears Its Head

This article was originally published on Gaming Horizon, GameBump's predecessor. Certain formatting, imaged, and embedded content may have been lost in the transition process. The original author is Nate Francis.

For those of you who appreciate a little T&A with your H&K, word has leaked out that Take-Two Interactive seems to be pressing for a 2006 release of the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever. From a filing placed with the Securities and Echange Commission last week, the astute reader will note:

In March 2005, the Company renegotiated a $6,000 contingent obligation due upon delivery of the final PC version of Duke Nukem Forever through the payment of $4,250 and issuance of a promissory note in the principal amount of $500. The payment of the promissory note is contingent upon the commercial release of such product prior to December 31, 2006.
It's anyone's guess as to whether this kind of incentive will succeed in finally pushing this near-vaporware title out in 2006; how encouraged will 3D Realms really be about a 'bonus' after losing thirty percent of the original contract value? Numbers on a securities filing usually don't lie, though; Duke fans can take heart in knowing that the latest (and possibly last) offering may finally be on the radar.
