If dropping a hundred dollars on a trip to a gaming convention focused on all things Blizzard is your idea of a good time, then you're in luck - the PC gaming behemoth behind World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo announced on Monday details regarding their annual Blizzcon convention.

This year's convention will be held on October 10 and 11 and will be set in the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. An extra convention hall will be used this year to accommodate the growing number of attendees.

Past Blizzcons have included a variety of activities, ranging from demos of upcoming Blizzard games to tournaments to panels of developers discussing topics such as MMO design, and this year promises to be no different. A number of other activities, such as a silent auction, are also planned.

Fans are also expecting Blizzard to announce the development of Diablo 3, the long-awaited next iteration in one of PC gaming's most beloved franchises. This stems from the reports that Blizzard has acquired the diablo3.com domain name. With Starcraft II and the next WoW expansion nearing release, it wouldn't be surprising to see Blizzard at least announce the game's existence.

In development for more than four years already, Blizzard announced today that the launch of the third-person variation on its popular franchise, StarCraft: Ghost, will be delayed even further as the company is considering releasing the game on next-generation consoles.
“Like many in the industry, we’ve been impressed with the potential of
the new consoles, and we’re looking forward to exploring that potential
further,” stated Mike Morhaime, President of Blizzard
Entertainment. “In addition to allowing us to determine the best course
for StarCraft: Ghost, this review period will help us lay the
groundwork for our future console games.”
Though Ghost is an anticipated game (and Blizzard's first leap into the third-person shooter genre), its pause in development may be good news, as versions we played at E3 still seemed like they needed some extra attention. Look for an update soon on where SC: Ghost is headed, and when we can expect it to arrive.
