Amazon Launches Casual Games Download Service

Amazon.com has launched a digital distribution service for casual games, according to Shacknews.

There are over 500 titles available for download at the new "Game Downloads" section of the site, all priced in the $6.99 to $9.99 range. Also, for a limited time, Jewel Quest II, Build-a-lot, and The Scruffs, are being offered for free. There are also plans to expand the selection past casual games at some point.

"We always want to offer the widest selection possible, just like we've done with our boxed games over the past two years," Amazon VP of video games and software Greg Hart told Kotaku.

Each game will have a trial version and will be acquirable through the Amazon Games & Software Downloader, a small 3MB download. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Guitar Hero III Virtuoso DLC Pack Set For Thursday Release

Activision has done fairly well at keeping fresh DLC in the channels for Guitar Hero III, and they are looking to keep the trend going, as it was announced today that a fresh track pack will be hitting the PS3 and 360 this Thursday.

Themed around virtuoso guitarists, the new pack will consist of songs by Joe Satriani ("Surfing with the Alien"), Steve Vai ("For the Love of God") and Buckethead ("Soothsayer"), who contributed the finger-blistering "Jordan" to Guitar Hero II.

A price wasn't disclosed, but past packs have cost $6.25, or 500 Microsoft Points.

GameStop To Offer FREE Rare Pokemon Download

If you've been waiting for a chance to snag a rare, event-only Pokemon for your copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, now is your chance, as GameStop is going to offer a free download of the legendary Pokemon Deoxys.

Those interested in downloading Deoxys can bring their DS with a copy of Diamond or Pearl to GameStop from June 20-22 and June 27-29.

Rock Band's First Downloadable Albums Set For Release

After months of waiting, fans of Rock Band will soon be jamming to full albums, as Harmonix announced today that Judas Priest's "Screaming for Vengeance," which features classic heavy metal tunes like "You've Got Another Thing Comin," will be released on April 22 for the 360 and April 24 for the PS3. The download will cost $14.99, and gamers will also have the option to download the tracks seperately for $1.99 each.

Two more albums were also announced, with The Pixies' "Doolittle" being set for June and The Cars' eponymous debut album arriving in May.

Downloadable Content For Bioshock Available

Bioshock sales are doing incredibly well and that's what happens when you make a good title unlike Kane & Lynch. At least the review scores and advertisements are right. Well, the folks over at 2K Games just informed us that downloadable content for Bioshock is now available via Xbox Live Marketplace and a PC patch.

New downloadable content includes:

Four Plasmids and Gene Tonics
Sonic Boom: Hurls creatures and objects back with a blast of force
EVE saver: Enables Plasmids to use less EVE
Vending Expert: Reduces prices in the vending machines
Machine Buster: Increases the amount of damage players deal to cameras, bots and turrets

Achievements (exclusive to Xbox 360):

Xbox 360 players can gain 100 points for Brass Balls, by beating BioShock on the hard difficulty setting without dying

David Bowie Rocks You in Rock Band, New DLC

Rock Band fans rejoice, as the game has received its David Bowie goodness in the form of another downloadable content update. Gamers can purchase the David Bowie song pack for $5.49 (that's 440 MS points) or shell out a mere $1.99/track (that's 160 MS points). The songs include:

Heroes as made famous by David Bowie (cover)
Queen Bitch as made famous by David Bowie (cover)
