Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the development of Brave Story for the PlayStation 2 and PSP. The company recently launched a site for the game (located here), which is based on the animated film of the same name set to release in Japan on July 8.

The game casts players as Wataru, a 10 year old boy abandoned by his father and with a mother in a coma, who visits another world where a goddess who grants wishes resides. Bandai is also hard at work with a Nintendo DS version of the game, but details on that rendition are slim. Below is the summarized announcement for the PS2/PSP versions.
